Travel time: Sydney
Next up on the travel schedule is Sydney, Australia! Ozdane and I fly out tonight and will be staying 9 days. A quick 7-hour overnight flight and voila…we’re there! I am looking forward to it.
On our last visit to Sydney in April something very special happened! The most special thing of my life so far actually. I think it will be a tough trip to beat!
Sydney has truly become my second home. Australia holds a special place in my heart. I guess the fact I am engaged to an Aussie says a lot too. You know that feeling you get inside when you go back to wherever it is you consider home? That feeling of comfort, happiness, peace, like you belong there? The minute I see the Sydney Harbour, Opera House, CBD from the plane I instantly get that feeling. Ahhhhh I’m home! Things all have that familiar feeling, look familiar, even taste familiar when you indulge in some of your favorite foods you miss. Ozdane gets very excited to have sausage rolls and meat pies whenever we go to Sydney. No way will he go without having one! Oh, and of course a kebab too. We usually are stuffing our faces with those in the airport before flying back to Singapore.
It’s not just about Sydney itself though, not at all. The girlfriends I made in Sydney are special to me. They are life-long friends and I feel lucky to have them in my life. That is what I look forward to the most about our visits back to Oz, seeing them. You know how people say some friends really do become family? Well, when you uproot yourself and move somewhere completely new without knowing a soul like I did with my move to Australia, it feels wonderful when your close friends become your extended family. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
On that note, I’m off to pack now. Stay tuned for some “live” Sydney posts over the next week!
